TWO SYDNEY CASKS. B» Telegraph-Press Association. Received 1, U. 40 p. m . Sydney, July 1. The action of O'Brien versus the Daily Telegraph resulted in a verdict for defendants.
An action was commenced to-day in which the Co-operativo Insurance Company, Ltd., claims £50,000 damages tor alleged libel against the Sun Newspaper Company, contained in an article published in the financial columns of that paper commenting on the Co-operative Company's annual report and issue of ft prospectus dealing with the proposed increase of capital. Plaintiffs claim that the comments meant that the company had improperly refrained from placing before the public the true facts of its financial position, and sought to obtain new capital l>y improper concealment of,, material facts.
