NAVAL OIL FUEL.

Sir Edward Grey, replying to questions and criticisms, in the House of Commons, vigorously defended the Persian oil contract, saying that nowhere else could the Admiralty have made sure of an oil supply with fewer obligations and Jess dangerous commitments. it waß intended to develop the oilfields as far south as possible. Regarding the Bagdad negotiation, the railway, would terminate at Busrah, and would not extend to the Gulf without British consent. Turkey recognises the status quo in regard to the Gulf, and Britain would agree to an increase of four per cent, in the Turkish Customs, making 15 per cent.
