ELECTION CAMPAIGN BEGINS. CONSTITUTION ON ITS TRIAL.
By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, June 27. The session lias ended. Both Houses passed the Supply Bills. In a valedictory speech, Mr. Cook eaid he hoped the coming elections would be able to shape the issues properly and get an intelligent verdirf from the people. The constitution was on its trial.
A member interjected: "Sir R. MunroFerguson is on trial." Mr. Cook replied that all blame should be placed on his shoulders. The further away they kept the Governor-General from their discussions the better for all concerned.
Mr. Fisher said he was pleased the battle was being transferred from the House to the hustings.
