ADDRESS TO DAIRY CONFERENCE

Palmerston X., Last Night. The Premier addressed the Dairy Conference. He said he was delighted to attend such a large gathering of those engaged in the dairying industry. Speaking from memory, lie believed the value of the dairy exports now amounted to four millions, and would be more in future. The Government would do everything possible to assist the industry. He was pleased to announce that during the last few months .more favorable terms had been made for freight on siiFps trading to San Francisco and Vancouver. The new arrangement gave a considerable reduction in freights .for butter arid cheese, and the saving would amount to about £IO,OOO. It would be the duty of the newly-appointed Board of Agriculture to study the marketing methods of our produce, and he anticipated that valuable assistance would be given to the agricultural industry.
