PROTEST FROM EXGLISII RAILWAY CLERKS. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received 10, 0.30 p.m. London, May lfl. A conference of the Railway Clerks' Association, of 20,000 members, at Edinburgh, protested against the importation of an American manager for the (treat Eastern Railway, and condemned the despotism and favoritism in Iho close departmental system which prohibits clerks from promotion. The conference advocated public ownership of hind, mines, railways and other monopolies.
