At the Royal Geographical dinner, Dr. Douglas Freshficld, the president, described Db. Mawson's journey, from the scientific standpoint, as th© most fruitful of all Antarctic expeditions. Dr. Mawson responded to the toast of "Our Guests," and said finance was the real trouble of these expeditions. He hoped to give a precise account of the journey on June 9, tho accounts Ihsitiherto published Hn london having been meagre. THE CLOUD CAST BY CAPTAIN SCOTT'S DEATH. London, May 18. Lord Ourzoni, in his presidential address at the meeting of the Royal Geographical Society, said Captain Scott's tragedy had cast a cloud over the brilliance of other Antarctic achievements. If Sir Ernest Shackleton carried out his Napoleonic conception he would add i final wreath to the others with which he was .crowned.
