A YACHTSMAN PENALISED.
REPRESENTATIONS TO MR. MASSEY. By Te'egraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Arrangements are being made for an influential deputation of yacht-owners to wait upon tue Prime Minister on his return from tn-e Thames district at the end of' the week, to appeal for redres3 in the case of A. L. Gilford, owner of the yacht "Rawene." who was recently called upon by the Minister for Miarinc to pay a redemption fee of £SO in order to avoid the seizure of his yacht because a member of his crew was detected ed in the offence of picking oysters at Rakino Island. The members of the crew have signed a declaration before a justice of the peacfe setting forth that Gifford was not a party to the picking of oysters, and that he had given instructions that under no circumstances would any be allowed aboard. The yachtsmen are anxious to have the matter adjusted, because thtej - ; consider Uifford has been harshly treated, and also because they fear that the oa.se might otherwise become an expensive preeedent for the owners of valuable pleasure craft.
