WAGGONER DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Monday. A waggon, driven by a man named. Jack Vernon, was found on Sunday afternoon overturned on the bank of a creek at Ngatapu. Vernon was missing. The waggon had skidded off the road and had fallen into the creek. The driver was pinned underneath the shaft and drowned. The body has been recovered.
ACCIDENT AT A CAMP. Dunedin, Monday. Trooper Philpotts, who was thrown from his horse at the Matarae military camp on Saturday, died in the Dunedin Hospital last night. ACCIDENT WITH A REVOLVER. Dunedin, Monday. On the footpath outside the Leviathan Private Hotel this morning, a revolver was unexpectedly discharged and shot Thomas Bartlett, who was standing close by, in the thigh. Bartlett was removed to the hospital. SUICIDE WITH A SHOT GUN. Carterton, April 27. Leslie Ronald Kcmble, aged 22%, committed suicide on Saturday night at 11.30 by shooting himself with a shot-gun. MOTOR-CYCLE COLLISION. Dunedin, Monday. There was a serious motor-cycle collision last night, near Allaton, letwecn Alex. Smith, of South Dunedin, and MacDonald, of Allaton. Both men were discovered on the road unconscious, each with a gaping wound in the forehead. Smith's condition is very critical. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TAXI-CAB. Auckland, Monday. A boy named Gordon Carlston was knocked down by a taxi at Avondale. He received a fractured skull, and was removed to the hospital. MOTOR-CAR SMASH. Wanganui, Last Night. A serious accident occurred on Sunday. As Misses Southey and O'Reilly and Mr. J. ,T. O'Reilly were motoring to Waverley, the car got out of control, went through a fence, and fell over a bank a distance of 120 ft. Miss Southey is in a private hospital, suffering from a fractured skull and a fractured thigh. Her condition is very serious. Miss O'Reilly is also in the hospital, but is not seriously hurt. DYNAMITE EXPLOSION. Taihape, Last Night. In the bush at Ohutu this morning Patrick Moore was ramming a heavy charge of blasting powder to make a way for a tram line, when the powder exploded prematurely. Moore reecived the full effects in the face, and was blinded. There is little hope that he 'will recover his eyesight. His left hand was also badly mangled.
