AMONG THE MAORIS.
A MARSDEN CENTENARY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. Bishop Sedgwick has spent the last few days in Rotorua, where 'lie opened the new Maori church at Ohinemutu, and presided over the llui Tapu, or Maori Synod. At the latter it was decided to com. memorate the Marsdcn Centenary by collecting £IOOO this year from the Maoris in the diocese for the support of a Maori missionary to the Mclancsian Islands.
The Synod resolved to give every assistance to organised bodies lighting against the drink evil. A resolution was passed expressing high appreciation of Bishop Averill's work.
The next Synod will be held at Hast"UP-
