THE CREDITORS AXD TIIEJII

CHANCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Friday. The first meeting of creditors in'the estate of John Crisp, solicitor, of Palmeruton, was held this afternoon before the Official Assignee (Mr. Kendall'. Crisp disappeared just wlin: ,i warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of forgery, and he has never been seen since. Some of the larger amounts ot which proof has been presented were: Agnes Jane Lunan (Glenpark), on whose petition Crisp was adjudicated bankrupt, £024, consisting of sums paid to Crisp in April and August, ID 12, for investment; Christian McCulloiigh (Palmerston), £212, money received for investment; Edward Butt (I'wmerstoii), £391, money lent; Arthur Heckler (Waikouaiti), £3-11, on promissory note; trustees of Royal Palmcrstoii Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., £BS, interest on mortgages received and unaccounted for; Michael Dennely (Good wood), £2OO, money received ,'nr investment. In all, the liabilities, it is believed, will total £3OOO. Another debt not proved was one for £lO4 to Mias Horan, for hoard, and money misapplied.

The Assignee said the assets appeared to be a library in his office and effects, which might be valued at anything from £SO to £IOO. In addition, there were book debt, to a value unknown, and personal effects, including a motor cycle and a typewriter, which cost £2! i. There might also be an interest of about £3OO on a mortgage, but on that point he could not speak definitely. Mr. Aslin, who appeared for Mi's. Lunan, Mr. Heckler, Mrs. McCullong'i and the 1.0.0. F., said that in addition there was a contingent claim of £SOO on behalf of the executor of Peter Lunan, which would depend upon other proceedings, and also on behalf of the trustees of the lodge there was a contingent claim for another £SOO. I A committee was set up to investigate and report to a future meeting of [ creditors.
