ENOINEICRS IN CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. The conference .of local government engineers resumed this morning, when a paper was read on the subject of the Humphrey pump by F. C. jiunyard, of Cambridge. The paper pointed out that the Humphrey pump was a type peculiarly suitable for the needs of a civil engineer in raising water for irrigation, domestic and sanitary purposes. In the afternoon the delegates commenced a tour of inspection of the various local public works, which will be continued to-morrow. The itinerary includes City Council electric works, electric works of the Tramway Board, destructor, (piarrv and machinery of the City Council.' Ihe Campbell Park, and the sewer outfall at Orakei. COMI'ENSATIOV CASE. Oisbonie. Saturday. The Supreme Court case Thomas Cahill v. Oisbonie Slicepfarmers Frozen Meat Company, a claim for JJI-.'iO damages for injuries sustained whilst using a hoist in the company's employ was heard before Mr. .lustice iloskiug 'and a jury of twelve:.
