TORRENTS IN THE STREETS. A MAN DROWNED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 22, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, March 22. Friday night's deluge caused many thousands of pounds' damage and ono death. The rain was the fiercest for thirty-six years. Seventy points fell in i% minutes, and the streets were turned into rushing tor rents. Water invaded shops and houses.
Thirty trams were derailed in different parts of felie city and suburbs.
An ancient aboriginal burying ground at Manly was unearthed and bones and skulls were exposed. A man named Knight was driving home to Parramatta, The storm water washed the horse into a creek, and Knight was drowned. Steady rain has been almost continuous since the storm.
