AUCKLAND SCRATCHINGS. By Telegraph—Presa Association. Auckland, Saturday. Potation and Reputation have been scratched for the Auckland Eacing Club's Easter meeting, the former for the Easter and St. George Handicaps, and the latter for the Champagne Stakes. TOTALISATOR REGULATIONS. Nelson, Saturday. A case which is said to be the first of its kind in New Zealand was heard today. H. D. James, totalisator proprietor, was charged with registering money on the totalisator after the time notified for closing. The magistrate, Mr. Evans, held that there was no definition of the meaning of ''notified," and nothing in the Act obliging the clubs to notify the time of starting ,but lie also held that any notification by the club to the public or persons liable to a penalty was sufficient. Defendant was fined 20s, but exonerated from any moral turpitude.
