Alexander Thomson, who was charged with manslaughter in connection with (he death of his mother, in eoniwraence of a ruptured varicose vein, was committed for trial. A new feature was introduced into the ease by the evidence of a child, the brother of accused, who stated that after Mrs. Thomson' died Baxter, who lived with Mrs. Thomson, told hira to Bay Alexander gave bis mother a blow and knocked her down. The statement was untrue.

Baxter, in evidence, stated that Thomson struck deceased four times, knocking her down against a box causing the rupturo of a vein.
