THIEVES IN HASTINGS.
A GOOD HAUL By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Saturday. It is reported that G. F. Koaeh's grocery store was entered by burgla-s last night and £BOO and soma jewellery taken from the safe. The police decline to confirm the report or to give ■the reporters information. Torrential rain fell during the early hours of this morning, 'i.BOin. being registered, and it fe supposed that the thieves took ad vantage of the noise occasioned by the dowripour and the deserted streets In carry out their work. Two minor burglaries, in which houses of people who were camping on Alio beach were entered and clothing stolen, are reported. In one of tho houses yesterday the brother of the occupier was looking round to «ee that all was right, and was startled by a man springing out of a cupboard and making good his escape. The thief in flie otW Ik>usc spent a comfortable night in the bed of a man he was robbing. Later. ' The amount taken is now stated lo be about I*2oo in cash. The thieves left a number of cheques and the jewellery which were in the safe while the family was away at the seaside.
