FIRES.
OLD HOTEL CUTTED. l!y Telegraph—Press Association, lnvercargill, Last Night. A lire broke out this evening in tin) old Imperial Hotel in Tay Street, now carried on as a hoarding-house. 11 contained 28 rooms, and was owned by the trustees of (he late T. Whittakcr and occupied by Win. Smith. The hriigaie quickly had the flames under control, but both the house and furniture were gutted. The house and fiirnitiil -1 were insured'for £OOO in the Commercial Union office, and for £230 each in the New Zealand awl Sun offices.
