FIRES.

DWELLING DESTROYED. A MAN BURNED TO DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Lust Night. A private boardingliouse in Dixon street, occupied by L. JJolton, was gutted by fire about eight o'clock to-night. Subsequently the charred remains of a man were found, but it is not at present certain who the man was. BODY IDENTIFIED.

The man burned in the Dixon street fire was James Martin, aged 27, son of the landlady, Mrs. Bolton, by a former marriage. Bolton and his wife have returned. They state, they left the house at 7U3 p.m., when all was apparently safe. The building is owned by Mrs .Townsend, of Auckland.
