The next conference will be held in Dunedin. The conference decided to heartily support the amendment to the Lien Act, which is to come before the House nest session. The object of this amendment is to make it compulsory for sub-con-tractors to file a lien within one week of the acceptance of a tender. Another matter considered was that of separate tenders to architects. At the present time the builder takes the whole contract, and other work is let to sub-co'i. tractors. The conference resolved t» support the system of separate tendering. It was decided to divide the Dominion into nine provincial districts, each of which will have a vice-president. The provinces are as follows:--Southlan 1, province; Otago, province; Nelson, Marlborough and Westland, one province; Canterbury, province: Wellington province (leaving out Wangunui); Titm;nakj( Wangunui, one province; Hawke's Bay, with the exception of Poverty Bay), Auckland, Poverty Bay and Gisborne county, one province.
