BLUEJACKETS IN TROUBLE.
HAXDED'OVEII TO THEIR COMMANDER. By Telegraph—Press Association;' Wellington, Yesterday. ■While a constable was arresting n bluejacket from the Philomel for drunkenness in one of the main streets last night, a big crowd gathered and showed' a good deal of hostility. A strong poliUe posse arrived and arrested four blue-. jackets, who, it is alleged, attempted a rescue, and one civilian, who was also charged with interfering. During the hearing of the prosecutions to-day, the idefence—including a civilian witness who was not charged—accused the livst 'constable of tactlessness and unnecesjsavy violence.' The magistrate convicted the two bluejackets and ordered them to be handedovef to"tfip naval authorities foT punishment.' H<! 'dismissed .the ehrfrges against the fltlier two 'bineja'ekets because of doubts «s .to their identity. He fined the off ending civilian 40s" or seven days' imprisonment. Inspector Hendry paid a tribute to the general good conduct of the naval men in Wellington for many years past".
