ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE THEATRE. | I "WITH SO ITT TO THE POLK.'' This afternoon and to-night the Empire management will screen "With Hcott to the Pole," a tine picture of decided merit, with a distinct educational value. ''With Scott to the Pole" is a truly wonderful kinematographie record of the great British Antarctic expedition which won for the late Captain Scott, R.N., immortal fame. The picture opens with views of the Terra Nova fighting her way to the snowmantled regions in a heavy gale. A great iceberg, 280 ft in height, is passed quite closely. Thrasher whales are seen cruising within a few yards of the vessel. Seal life is studied at very close range, and many varieties arc viewed gambolling on the ice or diving into the breakers. Some intcresting glimpses are given of the dog toams. The penguins, with their grotesque outline and comical actions, are. amusing features. Mount Erebus, that great sentinel of the South, is shipped in an angry mood, vast volumes of smoke and steam issuing from the summit. There is a game <>f soccer football on the ice, and the ponies give a good, account of themselves pulling the provision sleighs tn the depots. The final scenes deal with the daily life of those who made the last foal dash to the Pole." Box plan now open at Hoffmann's.
