PICTURE-THEATRE SCARE.
A FOOLISH ACT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The ringing of a lire bell caused a cry of "Fire!" to be raised in a picturetheatre at Newmarket last evening, with the result that there was a good deal of excitement amongst the audience. The firebell rang shortly after the interval, and three young men sitting in the back portion of the theatre rushed to the exit, calling out "Fire!" The effect on the audience was electrical, and for a moment trouble was imminent. The majority of the people stood up, and a number precipitately rushed the door.
