Five casfcs of burglaries have been reported to the police tm b<jth aides of the Manawatu River, near I'almerston. In eacli instance the thefts have not been extensive, being chiefly confined to small sums of money and door keys. The houses havo been entered while the occupants were absent, and in some instances, apparently during the daytime.
