SHEVKET'S ASSASSINATION.
COMPROMISING CORRESPONDENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Received 20, 10.20 p.m. Constantinople, January 20. Basri Bey, formerly an influential member of the Union of Progress Party and later a member of the Opposition, has been arrested in possession of alleged compromising correspondence relating to Mahoud Shovket's assassination. He escaped tho military police's escort, and took refuge in the Dutch Legation. The police attempted to drag him out, and the Kavasses surrendered him under a misapprehension.
