AUSTRALASIAS CONTEUENCE - NEW ZEALAXDERS WITHDRAW. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, January 24. ' At a conference of amateur sporesj men convened by Mr. Coombes, representative of Australia and Xew Zealand on the international Olympic Committee, for the purpose of forming a national governing body to control nominations and all matters councctfit with the Olympic Games wherein Australia ant] New Zealand are concerned, o motion was proposed that the organisation be called the Olympic Federation of Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Bridges, on behalf of New Zealand, announced that he was instructed by the Dominion Olympic Council to oppose the formation of an Australasian governing body, wherein New Zealand I would be only a component part, ile argued that it was the national spirit of New Zealand which opposed delegating to an outside body the management of any mutters concerning the Dominion. The motion was carried by eight to two, the minority comprising the New Zealand delegates. The latter then withdrew from the conference. A constitution was framed by tl.i conference providing for a governing council, composed of two delegates representing the aliiliatcd Olympic Councils and one representative elected by subscribers in each State or Dominion, to deal with public funds to defray the expenses of Australasian competitors at the Olympiad. The conference then adjournerd.
