THE MILITARY SCHEME.
A MORE GENEROUS ..SCALE. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. It has recently been reported that the Government intended to introduce an amendment to the Defence Act this session "to place the military scheme on a more generous scale." The subject was mentioned to-day to the Hon. James Allen, Minister of Defence, who replied that no amendment to the Defence Act was contemplated this session. He would not say that there would not be further amendments to the Act as time went on and experience showed them to he necessary. He luidjo. bear in mind that the whole organisation of the scheme was still largely in an experimental stage, and no doubt need might arise for further legislation as time went on, hutso far as he knew, there would be none this session.
