APPEAL 'TO THE PRIVY COUNCIL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, June 25. A Targe meeting of citizens in the Town Hall, the Lord Mayor presiding, decided to appeal to the Privy Council against the High Court decision in the Government. House eviction case. Subscription lists were opened to meet the costs of the appeal. The sum of £BOO was subscribed in the room. Speakers claimed that a majority of the people were in favor of retaining Government House as a residence of the GoverriorOencrnl. The view taken was that as the previous verdict of < the Supreme Court of the State was opposed to uie verdict of the High Court on a question such as this, which stirred the hearts of .the people, it should be tested before the highest tribunal of the Empire.
