With regard to the Gisborne Borough's proposal to accept money on temporary loans from local residents, this is no new scheme as far as Wanganui is concerned. Some three years ago the then Mayor inaugurated a scheme by which money is accepted repayable at call. Bate of interest is 3V2 instead of four per cent, as proposed by Gisborne. The scheme found great favor, the amount deposited being usually some, £20,000.
