THE CUSTODY OF A CHLD. Per Press Aasooiatioß. Wanganui, Last Night. An interesting case, regarding the eustody of a child, occupied Judge Chapman all day to-day and this evening, and is unfinished. It concerns one Tlielma Gilberd, twelve years of age. Since the' age of one and a half years, and until about fifteen months ago, she resided, except for -sundry intervals, with her uncle, John Forbes. There was no formal legal adoption. Proceedings were opened in Wellington, when the Chief Justice 'ordered the child to remain in the eustody of her uncle' pending the hearing of the suit in Wanganui, and made a rule nisi in Gilbert's favor. The application to-day was by Gilberd to have the decree made absolute, and the child returned to her parents,.
