A conference of representatives of sheep-owners and shearers was held in ■>< Wellington to-day to dißCuss the shearers' demands. After two and a-half houra' discussion, no agreement, on any of the clauses in ,the shearers' demand# was reached, consequently the shearers* executive has decided that the men shall not make any engagements for the coming season at less than 22s fid per hun- ' , dred for blade, shearing, and 20s for machine, the rates specified in the demands. Australian shearers have been cabled accordingly, and. advised to stay away.
