A DISASTROUS HAILSTORM. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrignt. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. New York, May 31. A hailstorm swept the district of Norfolk, in Virginia, and did much damage. Many are reported to have been killed; GERMAN CRUISER ASHORE. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, May 31. The cruiser Bluecher went aground in a thick fog, and several German warships failed to pull the vessel off. SPANISH CABINET RESIGNS. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. Madrid, May 31. The Cabinet has resigned. IMPERIAL SERVICES EXHIBITION. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. London, May 31. The Duke of Connaught opened the Imperial Services Exhibition at Earl's Court and witnessed a demonstration of naval and aerial warfare. THE TAINLTS CARGO. London, May 31. The Talnui's Lyttelton cargo of mutton was damaged by water, but the cheese and butter was not damaged. The vessel is expected to be ready to proceed on Monday. UNIVERSAL TRAINING MOVEMENT London, May 31. Owing to the outburst of criticism, the Eighty Club has decided to change its programme and ask Lord Roberts to dinner to enable him to state his views on national service. Colonel Seely, Secretary for War, will probablv propose the toast of Lord Roberts' health.
