It was shown in" cvidpnt'e that" both men had 'joined' the union 'almost' immediately. The MagV tratp quoted 'a'judgment of the Arbitration Court; which held that the fact that the jmen'k names were not on the union boolf did not prove that these men were out of work; In order to prove the case! the meii should have been called to give' evidence. Judgment was for the defendants; with costs against the union.

Spca'kitfg' at' 'the" conference of the Auckland Provincial Farmers' Union the ;president (Major referring to the unrest amongst the workers as affecting farming interests, said it appeared" that'there was no other sure way. of protecting their industries from dislocation, ruinous delays and absolute blackmailing, than by a firm and positice; agreement between all farmers personally to shear, slaughter, ship or unship' whenever or wherever strikes occunied which threatened to damage theiir business. These observations were appjauded.
