Christchurch, Wednesday. In the Supreme Court, in the ease of Tasker v. Clintons a claim for £OOO arising out of the scratching of Lady Clare for all engagements at the Spring Meeting of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, the jury found for plaintiff for £350. Tasker, trainer for Clinton, owner of the mare, had' an agreement to share the winnings. Tasker failed to accept for the mare for the New Zealand Trotting Cup, for which Clinton had backed her, and Clinton retaliated by scratching the mare for all engagements.

The District Committee met at the secretary's office on Tuesday evening" • when there were present Messrs C. M. Lepper (in the chair), Newton King, 0. W. Sole, A. Alexander, F. E. Orbell, A. R. Standish, L. A . Nolan, A. W. Budge, E. F. Blundell, W. C. Weston, L. B. Webster and Col. Ellis. An apology was received from Mr. R. H. Nolan.

The disqualification imposed by the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club on the mare Piriwai, in the Steward's Handicap at the club's meeting on February 12, was approved. A jockey's license was granted to Tim Jones.

Mr. C. M. Leppcr was appointed with the Hon. 0. Samuel, M.L.C., to act as club's representatives at the conference to be held during the season. The following dates for race meetings throughout the district were approved:—Taranaki Jockey Club, December 28 and 27, and February 11 and 12, 1914; Egmont Racing Club, February 4 and 5, and May 13 and 14; Stratford Racing Club, January 1 and 2; Opunake Racing Club, March 17. Permission was granted the Taranaki Circular Road Race Committee to use the club's property on September 3, the day of the race. Permission was also given to the coursing club ,to erect temporary fences and housing on the property. It was decided to call tenders for the erection of an outside grandstand, a totalisajtor house, and for alterations to the stair-way of the main stand.

Accounts amounting to £B2 10a M were passed for payment.
