THE POSITION IN FRANCE. MISS PANKHURST TO BE BANISHED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Paris, May 19. The Home Office is conducting investigations in Paris to establish Miss Christabel Pankhurst's connection with militancy. The Foreign Office is submitting evidence to the French Government, stating that Paris is the headquarters of a dangerous conspiracy. It is expected that France will require Miss Pankhurst and her associates to leave within 48 hours. AN OFFICIAL .DENIAL.

Mr. Barnes, speaking at Glasgow, said that the labor Party had recent!" fallen out with the women; and did not favor.militancy. They believed that such tactics retarded the cause. He supported the freedom of the press, and denounced the suppression of The Suffragette. Mr. John Scurr president of the Doctors Union, has"'been arrested for a speech inciting to disorder at Leeds.
