ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER.
| THE AUCKLAND MOTOR CASE. I Per Press Association. Auckland, Friday. At the Police Court, Robin Jasper Crago, aged 18 years, was charged with having wilfully attempted to murder Percy Robert Skeates and Bertie Hanna at Takapuna on March 13. Crago negotiated with Skeates for the purchase of a motor-car, and went with Skeates and Hanna on a trial run to Takapuna, where it was alleged that Crago left the car, ostensibly to pick' up a letter from the mail. On returning he peppered Skeates and Hanna with a revolver. Evidence was given that Crago stated to the police that he won £3OO in Tattersalls sweep, £IOO by betting on the races, and borrowed £25 from a friend. This he paid Skeates for the car on the way to Takapuna. Skeates denied having received any money from Crago, the arrangement being that the latter was to pay on delivery at Takapuna. Evidence was given that Crago purchased the revolver with which the shooting is alleged to have been done from an Auckland shop the same day as the affair occurred. Crago pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
