ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
| A GUN FATALITY. I Per Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. At. the inquest concerning the death of Charles Flanders, aged 1!), who met with a fatal gun accident whilst duck shooting yesterday, a verdict was returned that deceased was accidentally killed by a gunshot wound, the accident being caused by the negligent use of a gun. The following rider was added:— Tnat, the frequency of accidents arising solelv from the careless use of firearms suggests tho advisability of legislation, requiring all persons using or having possession of firearms and ammunition, to take out a license, issued by some competent expert after careful examination and enquiry regarding the proposed licenses.
SUICIDE OF A TAILOR. Wellington, Friday. Hugh D.vet.t ,a tailor, aged about 3S years, committed suicide by shooting himself witli a revolver. He had evidently attempted to kill himself bv cutting his throat, as there was a gash under his chin and a razor was found on his bed. No cause is assignable for the deed.
