I A PRELIMINARY CAMP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Danncrirke, Last Night. Preliminary to the main camp of the ■Wairarapa, Mamiwatu. Taranaki, and Napier battalions at Oringi, a number of Territorials who have to make up deficiencies in parades went under canvas yesterday for that purpose. The i weather was extremely wintry all yesterday, but cleared up during the night, and to-dav is beautifully fine. The main ■ camp commences on Friday, and comprehensive arrangements have been made for it. PARADE IN CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch, Last Night. The Mounted Brigade at present encamped at Yaldhurst. marched through the city to-day. the scene being a picturesque and an impressive one. The route of the march through the city was lined by large crowds which cheered the troops in Cathedral Square. The Mounted Brigade Band played the men. through. At the Bovs' High School drums and bugles played for them, and the bovs at Christ's College cheered them. The scholars at the nublic schools en route lined up and cheered as the trooDß naswd. The march discipline was ?ood throughout. Colonel Smyth, Officer Commanding the District, expressed himself well satisfied with the march especially* when it was considered.that these were men with merelv a veneer of training, and with practically untrained horses.
