PRISON FOR FEMALES. Per Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. It is understood that the female prisoners at present in Lyttelton gaol are to be transferred next week to the Samaritan nome at Addington. Originally built as a prison, and lately unoccupied, this will be the first prison for females established in New Zealand. RAILWAY SERVANTS' GRIEVANCE. Christchurch, Last Night. A meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants held yesterday adopted a resolution entering an emphatic protest "gainst the action of the Government in closing the avenue of promotion from second to first divisions, and urging the Government to abolish 'the division bar- f lier, therein- giving all men an equal opportunity for promotion. It was decided to send a copy of the resolution to the Minister of Railways, through the executive council of the Society. NEGLIGENT MOTORING. Timarn, List Night.
