Owing to sixteen thousand Cannock Chase minors deciding to force nonunionists to join ttie union, three thousand declined to descend the pits where non-unionists were employed. Mr. Keir Ilardie, in a speech at Dovrlais, said that the Steel workers Owners' Conference at Brussels in 1012 inaugurated an international movement to split the trade unions, so as to secure lower wages. Seventy-two woolcombing firms in the Bradford district have agreed to 'give a .shilling advance to employees receiving £1 wages, and sixpence t.o those receiving under CI.
