, SUICIDE OF A CONSTABLE. ! By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Commissioner of Police received a telegram to-day that Constable Dandy,. of Taupo, had shot himself with a revolver. There is no apparent reason for the act.

HUMAN REMAINS WASHED UP. Invercargill, Last Night. A human skeleton was found on the Riverton beach yesterday. It is thought that the remains" are those of an old age pensioner who mysteriously disappeared a few weeks ago.

TROUBLE WITH A TAXICAB. Palmerston North, Last Night. A party of three motorists in a Pal* merston taxicab were travelling in the Sandon district this evening, when a tyre burst and the car was overturned. One of the* occupants, Mr. Tomlinson, of Hastings, had his wrist broken, and Mr. Baker, a hotelkeeper of Palmerston, was badly shaken; but no one was seriously hurt. They were conveyed to Feilding by a passing motorist.

ALARMING EXPERIENCE.

Wanganui, Thursday. Mr. T. H. James., a Wanganui architect, and Mr. James MeChesney, a contractor of Marton, had a miraculous escape from being killed this evening. While crossing the railway line at Marton, the Main Trunk express dashed along. An effort was made to turn the trap clear, but the engine struck the horse, cutting it clear from the trap and killing it instantly. The occupants of the trap were thrown out. Mr. MeChesney was cut on the head and rendered insensible, while Mr. James found himself alongside the metals, with the carriage steps just passing over his body. He is suffering very much from shock

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.Wellington, Thursday-. George E .Rigg, a well-known, ex-civil servant, cut his throat in a boardinghouse to-night, and was removed to the hospital in a precarioss condition. '
