BLUFF HARBOR.

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invcrcargill, Last Xight. The chairman of the Bin 11' Harbor Board (Mr. R. A. Anderson) submitted the annual report and statement of accounts to-day. The income for the year had been the largest in the history of the Board, the gross receipts being £2(i,3-1!), and the expenditure £20,021!, of which £BSO was merely a book transfer. The sinking fund now stood at £41,330. The Board's loan of £OO,OOO falls due in December. The year was a record one for shipping, 403 vessels of 012,.V20 tons having- entered and left the port. The volume of trade centring in the port, computed in tons, amounted to 144,418 tons, an increase of 8757 tons. The value of imports through the Customs amounted to £075,003, an increase of £130,180 over the. previous year. The value of exports was £1,413,020, an increase of £118,027. The direct shipments during the year amounted to 18,700 tons. A serious drawback to the port had been the insufficiency of trucks for the discharge of cargo from shipping, and this liad caused inconvenience, delay and loss. Progress had been made towards increasing the berthage aseommodation, aild plans for a new wharf would be submitted for approval.
