The annual meeting of tho Star Football Club will in' held in the Town Jlall to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock, hi his annual report the secretary ("Mr. Preece) remarks that the season turned out far better than was anticipated from a financial point of view, and altogether it was a good season for the chili. Star were successful in winning the shields for both grades—senior and. junior—and it was the first time in six years that, the seniors had had the lionor of wrestling tlie Don O'jirien shield from the Tukapa Club. It was very disheartening. however, for Star to have to take the field short-handed on several occasions. Could the dull have mustered a full team together they would, states ' the report, have given a good account of themselves in the district cup contest. The report then goes on to remark: "In passing, the committee Is of the opinion that consideration should be given in the near future to the question of the advisableness of securing proper training facilities at night for footballers belonging to all the local clubs, in the shape of a gvmnasium with a ground floor. Un'il this is an accomplished fact, footballers cannot hope to look for the best results." Touching on the finances, the report state* that it was very disheartening, indeed, to the secretary to find that instead of taking over the secretaryship of a financial club, as lie was led to believe, it was in reality ' quite the contrary. In fact the committee did not know where it stood, ' but they were pleased to be able to report now that for the first time since lOO.j the club was "financial." After having paid all nceounts there remained a small credit balance in the bank, so that 1 tliis coming season the club ought to be able to jump ahead and finish the year ' with a good cheque to their credit. In j conclusion, the committee expresses its ] thanks to various ladies, and congratu- 1 lates the players "for the worthy man-1 ner in which tliev plaved clean foot- j , '

J The receipts durin<r the year amounti oil to £44 4s fid. while tlio expenditure i totalled los 2d.
