At tiie annual .meeting nf the Chamber ofi Shipping the president stated that the Australian Navigation Act was a direct violation of the understanding with the federal Government in 1007. when in return for cor.cesMons the Government undertook not co promote legislation contrary to Imperial legislation. It was ludicrous that coal vessels should be exempted. It was impossible, to understand how a coal steamer was more seaworthy than a wheat steamer. The regulations previously cabled were adopted.
