ALEGED ARSON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Darmevirke, Saturday. On Thursday evening last, when bush fires wore raging, a haystack belonging to a fanner named Hans Bai was troyed. Suspicion fell nn Thomas C. Kershaw, the occupier of the adjoining farm, of having set the stack alight as revenge for the destruction of his stack through the alleged spreading of fire from Bai's farm. ' Kershaw, who was drunk at the time, kent guard in the vioinitv of the stack with a loaded gun until the hay was consumed. Before Sir. S. E. McCarthy this morning he was charged with arson and attempting to discharge a loaded «un at Charles "Bai Accused admitted setting fire to the stack and having taken a gun to return the fire of the Bais if thev shot at him Accused pleaded guilty 'to the arson charges, but that of attempting to shoot was dismissed, there being no evidence siinportiwr it. Tfe was committed to the Supvomp Court for sontenoo.
