J he New Zealand Employers' Federation is issuing an appeal to'employers to combine for their safety against*socialism and syndicalism, a.nd to establish -a defence fund. The appeal savs: ■'•[T l ,] eiis some defensive measures are taken industries and politics will soon be in' the bauds of irresponsible persons, who will ■ wage a class war. The employers must cease from drifting, and organise more effectively." It is proposed to publish weekly in the newspapers replies to the arguments of, the labor leaders, to publish statistics, and to deal with the proposed legislative enactments. The total cost is estimated at £SOOO. The appeal asks employers to pay annually a sum i equal to half a crown for every hundred pounds of wages paid.
