MR. ALLEN AT HOME.
NAVAL AND .MILITARY POLICY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, January 31. Mr. Allen, interviewed, said the full burden of the Pacific licet should be borne by those living in the PacificCanada. Australia and New Zealand —and even Africa and India should unite for that purpose. Local navies for local purposes were useless. The fleet must be under one control.
New Zealand hoped to place an expeditionary force of 8000 men at the disposal of the Mother Country, lor service in any part of the Empire. NEWSPAPER COMMENT. London, January 31. The Pall Mall (Jazettc says that Mr. Allen's SOOO men offer is another instance of New Zealand's patriotism. If Lhe other Dominions organise similarly they would yield an army ready for service almost equalling the expeditionary force ot' the Motherland. Meanwhile it is necessary to establish an Imperial patrol of trade routes.
