THE LONDONDERRY ELECTION.
A NATIONALIST VICTORY. -HEAVY POLLING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, January 31. The result of the poll was:— Hogg (Nationalist) 2699 Col. Pakenham (Conservative) ... 2640 Majority for Hogg 50 There is excitement at "Derry, and much bottle-throwing and using of revolvers. Hogg, one of thirteen Protestant Home-rulers in Londonderry, aged To, only made two short speeches. Ninety-eight per cent, of those eligible polled.
At the general election the voting was: Marquess of Hamilton (Conservative) 2415, 8. Leslie (Nationalist) 2310. The present result is the loss of a seat to the Conservatives, and considerable encouragement to the advocates of li'ome Rule.
