LABOR MATTERS.

THE BRITISH CONFERENCE, FAVORING THE FRANCHISE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrigat London, January 30. The Labor Conference at Lambeth adopted a rule enforcing discipline within the Party in the Commons. Mr. Thorne said the thirteen Socialists never agree with the twenty-seven Trade Unionists on economic questions. The Parliamentary Party was instructed, by 850 votes to 437, to oppose any Franchise Bill which excluded women.

Mr. Snowden said labor should demand a Government measure. , Women's position was infinitely worse than a year ago. A divided Cabinet must not obstruct the expressed will of the majority of the House.

The Laborite newspaper, the Daily Herald, describes the conference at Lambeth as a greater farce than usual, as the delegates went there to register the decrees of the inner caucus.
