GOLF.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Golf Club, which was held in the Town Hall on Saturday night, Mr. W. Bewley (captain) presiding. The report, which was adopted, showed that the season had been most successful, interest being sustained throughout. Entries in all competitions, and particularly in the aggregate prize, had been very largo. The Easter Tournament had yielded a substantial profit. Pull advantage had been taken of McCormick's engagement, and it had been decided to engage him for two periods of throe weeks each this season. The membership had increased, 59 new members having joined, whilst ten had left the district. The most important work had been the preparation of the new links for play, the caretaker (Mr. Bennett) and an assistant having been busily engaged since April. Easter, however, fell due early t!i;s year, whicli i might handicap preparations for the tournament. Convenient premises had j been erected for members and the caretaker.
The balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory position of the Club's finances. During the year the total expenditure was mainly' ieurred through removal to the new' links and erection of new buildings there was £1547. The receipts covered this and left a balance in hand of £lO. A statement of assets and liabilities submitted siiowed a surplus of assets approximating £350. Officers for the ensuing vear we-« elected as follows: Patron."Dr E \ Walker; president, Mr. C. H. Burgess* vice-presidents, Messrs. D. K. Morrison, A. Crooko .and Dr. Leatham : captain Mr. J. Paton ; hon. secretary Mr C Denny-Brown; hon. treasurer,' Mr' \ Bewley; committee, Messrs.
