BOWLING.
THE SOUTH ISLAND TOURISTS. •Some twenty-one members of the Aorangi bowling team, a combination of South Island bowlers, hailing from clubs about Timaru and Oamaru, who are at present touring the North Island, arrived in New Plymouth on Saturday evening by the mail train, and will play a match against local bowlers to-day. On arrival they were met by several local bowling enthusiasts, and yesterday were the guests of the New Plymouth Bowling £lub in a motor trip to the Mountain, and, despite .the fact that unpleasant weather conditions prevailed in the afternoon, an enjoyable outing resulted, the visitors being charmed with the scenery.
To-day a match will be played on the New Plymouth green. It was expected that twenty-five of the visitors would make the trip, and accordingly six rinks were selected for the local club, as published oji Saturday. Now, however, only five will be required, and a rearrangement will therefore be made prior to the commenceirient of play on the green today.
THE TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. Arrangements have been completed for the fifth annual tournament to be held under the auspices of the Taranaki Bowling Association, which opens tomorrow on the New Plymouth and Fitzroy greens. Every club in the province is represented in the tournament. There should be quite an influx of bowlers by the train this evening.
