Through the failure of several members of the Waterside Workers Union and raihvaymen engaged as hookers-on at the coal waggons, to pay strike levies, the watersiders went out on strike this afternoon, but resumed at (1 p.m. The levies, it is stated, were paid in the meantime.

TARIFF ON BOOTS. Wellington. Tuesday. A conference is being held to-day between the Minister of Customs and lepresentatives of the boot industry in view of the alteration of the tariff to_ be brought before the House next session. The proceedings are not open to the press.
